Lenses for streets and roads
The main purpose of street lighting is to create a safe and secure environment for people. Each project is unique and requires an individual approach. It is also important to take into consideration entrances and exits, footpaths and pedestrian crossings.
AGC lenses (Advanced Glare Control)
In the case of high light output in outdoor environments, glare becomes a challenge. Bright light passing through a small lens is often perceived as much more dazzling than if it were passing through a larger lens. The AGC lenses are therefore relatively large, with the luminance being distributed over a larger area. The lenses are also installed close together so that they merge visually. All AGC lenses are optimised for:
- Maximum post distance
- Maximum light within the working area
- Maximum luminosity
- Maximum glare reduction for the given road conditions.
We have two types of AGC lenses: The E-lenses have been developed with a focus on illuminance and the L-lenses have been developed for situations where the focus in on the road surface and conditions. In our lens overview you can explore our AGC lenses and their suitability for different road types.
Lenses for pedestrian crossings
Lighting at pedestrian crossings should ensure the safety of both pedestrians and motorists. It is intended to light up the road and make pedestrians more visible to drivers. The contrast between the lighting at a pedestrian crossing and other lighting should be carefully considered to minimise glare.
There are no standard solutions for lighting at pedestrian crossings, rather it is adapted to the conditions at each location. It is important to bear in mind pole placement, vertical lighting and increased lighting contrast around the crossings. We offer lenses that are specially designed for pedestrian crossings. These are known as “Zebra lenses” and have high vertical illuminance.
