The new flagship of the bookstore Suomalainen Kirjakauppa is not just for shopping, but also for socialising and for meeting. A modern shop with the customer experience in focus.
The experimental concept of this two-storey bookstore offers to customers an interesting and wide selection of books, specially from Finnish authors, diversely office supplies, hobby and artist crafts, games, cards and packaging service, not to mention a modern café and “a new living room” where readers and writers can meet each other.

Fagerhult has made collaborations with Suomalainen Kirjakauppa for several years. Because the trust between two partners has always been good, Fagerhult was a natural choice to help planning the lighting to the new flagship and to generate the ideas together with the insight and design agency Kuudes.
Customer was hoping for a fresh and bright ambience to the bookstore. It was also important to use light control to save energy and to make the lighting more efficient.
Versatile Touch spotlight range was a perfect choice to the project. Fagerhult delivered about 500 pcs white 4000 K Touch Midi, Mini and Gimble spotlights to the store, minimalistic Relay Spots to the display windows and all the components to the Helvar DALI lighting control system. With DALI the lighting can now be dimmed, switched on and off and most of all it is now easy to create individually time-controlled changes to different areas in the store and to support the old and beautiful architecture of the second floor. Fagerhult made also programming to DALI routers.
Installations went smoothly as the layout of track system and spotlights was designed direct to the furnishing plan.
The light in the new flagship of Suomalainen Kirjakauppa feels natural, but still enhances the surroundings. The light creates a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere to the whole bookstore where customers can feel comfortable and enjoy their stay.
When creating this pleasant environment with unique features, lighting had a very important role to contribute the overall impression on of the bookstore and it also increases brand values.
