Traditional Stockmann Delicatessen, Helsinki, has been a food heaven to all citizens in town for decades. In 2018 this legendary grocery store passed to the new owner HOK-Elanto and was renamed as Food Market Herkku – Delicatessen.

The whole grocery store was renewed before the grand opening in November 2018. The new Food Market Herkku – Delicatessen now offers a new atmosphere along with 85 m of different service desks. Lighting groceries in the right way is an important task. Deli departments are perfectly matched with light that has more of the radiation in the warmer spectrum. Fruits and vegetables are products that also feel comfortable in warmer colour temperature. The warm colours of bread or red meat are enhanced by the lower degrees of Kelvin too. That makes products with warm hues look even warmer and more attractive. Planning the light in Food Market Herkku – Delicatessen was mainly about enhancing and highlighting the merchandise, but also to create the right experience by balancing contrasts, brightness and shadows.

The new lighting solution was made with Fagerhult´s Touch*-spotlight family, both with recessed and track versions. Totally over 1500 spotlights were installed round the grocery store. The change into led-spotlights brings significant savings to energy consumption. The whole interior and spotlighting in Food Market Herkku - Delicatessen  is now upgraded to become more aligned with company´s own brand values and to enhance the commercial environment with the power of light.
