An insight driven innovation project for the children at Astrid Lindgrens Barnsjukhus.

Astrid Lindgrens Barnsjukhus has done a tremendous work in helping sick kids feel better through something called Lekterapi. It’s a free zone where medical treatments aren’t allowed. Here kids can escape their every-day, play and do crafts to process hurtful experiences and learn about their treatment.

In this environment, there is a workshop where children are encouraged to be creative and have the opportunity to create. Lekterapeuterna themselves believe that the workshop is the heart of the play therapy at Karolinska.

Our mission together with POND

We were, together with the Lekterapeuterna, going to create an environment where children aged 3-18 years would feel inspired and be motivated to create and be creative, either by themselves or with family. The challenge was to a limited area make it possible to easilyadapt to different needs and activities.

It would be a friendly environment that welcomes, provides energy but also peace of mind. It was important that we created an environment that took advantage of the aforementioned needs but that is also easy for staff to manage and that can survive without much maintenance.
