KRISTIANSTAD HOSPITAL CHILDREN’S WARD
Making a ward panel a natural part
- Year: 2017
- Location: Kristianstad
- Architect: Sesam Arkitektkontor AB
The importance of creating an atmosphere that promotes recovery was at the heart of the interior concept of the refurbished children’s ward at the Central Hospital in Kristianstad.
The aim of the project was to re-create a traditional ward panel solution into being a key part of the room’s nature inspired interior theme. Through an innovative use of light, imagery and interaction, the ward was transformed into an interesting, less-clinical healing environment.
Our solutions empowered the user to define their own experience, as the illumination from the panel lighting could be controlled by a tablet. A number of the panels were supplemented with the integrated reading and examination luminaire Aluflex 600. Via a DALI relay on the back of the panel, the lighting could be controlled via the infotainment system, simplifying access for the patient to adapt their environment and recreation via a centralised medium.
Aluflex 15 is developed to provide easy-to-access yet less prominent provision of electrical and gas sockets built into wall sections. With this as the base technical solution, Fagerhult worked closely with the architect to develop and source photo-laminated discs to mount on the nursery panel.
