Fjord leads the way – with optimized optics and fewer points of installation
When Fagerhult now launches Fjord – a bollard in two heights and with several light distributions – new opportunities are available when lighting outdoor environments. The luminaire meets high demands on efficiency and installation without compromising on either lighting design or aesthetics.
Fjord is an efficient and expressive bollard for parks, recreation areas, and gardens, as well as streets, footpaths, and cycle paths. The luminaire also meets the outdoor environment’s high energy efficiency and aesthetics demands – and is easy to handle during installation and maintenance.
“The idea behind Fjord was to design a bollard that suits different types of outdoor environments and goes well with other luminaires. The clean lines add a design element, and the optics are optimized to provide good lighting in parks, along paths and other urban outdoor environments,” says Håkan Sehler, product manager, Fagerhult.
The bollard is available in two heights and with two top shades, creating new possibilities for lighting and visual expression. The high efficiency also allows for longer distances between each luminaire, resulting in fewer installation points and, ultimately, lower costs.
Symmetrical and asymmetrical light distribution.
Fjord provides a reduced proportion of light pollution in the night sky with optional integrated night dimming, optimized light distribution, and a light source close to the ground. Fjord is also available with both symmetrical and asymmetrical light distribution.
“The optics are of the highest quality and a result of our development work. The lenses provide an even light distribution without shadows at the base of the bollard or light reflections along the post,” says Håkan Sehler.
Fjord is available with two different top shades. The higher provides a salient light distribution and is well visible at longer distances, creating natural navigation points and a good guiding light along pedestrian or cycle paths. The lower top shade has a more discreet expression where the light source is hidden and creates a guiding light without the risk of glare.
“Throughout the development process, we have focused on aesthetics and optics, but in outdoor environments installation and maintenance are essential. The bollard can be mounted in several ways, and for foundation installation, we recommend our Multitube attachment tube. It requires no wedges, so the bollard is always at perfect ground level. An installation hatch is also available as an option, facilitating installation and making it easier to check the luminaire over time,” concludes Håkan Sehler.

Fagerhult launches AI tool – suggests the right lens in an instant
Each street, road, and project have its conditions. Standards and regulations generally show the way, but choosing the suitable optics is time-consuming and complex. Fagerhult is now launching a lens guide that uses AI to find the best lens for every scenario – in just a few seconds. At Fagerhult, optics are in constant focus, and a lot of effort and knowledge is put into developing and refining the lenses — to make the lighting along the roads as efficient and sound as possible. However, with more advanced optics, greater complexity, and a growing product range, the choice of lenses also becomes more difficult. “Those familiar with our luminaires and lenses are likely to know which lens and optics to choose to meet specific scenarios. But if you don't have this knowledge, you can now use our AI tool to find out which lenses meet the requirements and provide the best and most efficient solution,” says Henrik Sandqvist, Product and Application Manager Outdoor Lighting at Fagerhult. An accurate guideThe tool is based on predictions and is best used as a complement to Dialux. All the user needs to do is fill in information about pole distance, mounting height, overhang, and road width, as well as which national standards that must be achieved. With one click, the tool presents complete data for three possible alternatives: the most efficient solution, the overall most optimised solution and the solution with the best G class.Henrik Sandqvist states that the results may vary depending on how the products are configured; however, it generally serves as a very accurate guide. Martin Hübert, CAE engineer at Fagerhult's Optics Development, in collaboration with Jönköping University, is behind the tool's development.“We who develop optics sometimes get questions about more complex scenarios, but giving general answers is difficult. However, we know what our lenses could achieve and we always want to offer the best solution for each project. I have previously thought about how we could make light planning easier by making our internal tools more accessible to our customers. In collaboration with the Department of Computing at Jönköping University, the idea of AI came up, and the pieces fell into place,” says Martin Hübert. Two million data pointsThe over two million data points used are split into two parts: one that trains the AI models and one that verifies them. Based on these, a model is created for each parameter you want to predict, and the user gets suggestions on which optic is best for the scenario filled in.“The user then needs to ensure the proposed options in Dialux. Compared to testing one's way between several possible alternatives, this is a significantly more efficient way of working. Many often choose a lens out of habit if it meets the requirements. The lens guide considers a lot of data and always suggests the best lens for each scenario and choice. The matches are at a very high level, and we also see other significant opportunities to work with AI to refine our optics and support our customers in more ways in the future,” concludes Martin Hübert. The lens guide, a part of Fagerhult ConfigureThe lens guide uses AI to make predictions and present three options for your specific scenario when light planning outdoor applications. At launch, the tool can select optics for a two-lane road. There are plans to expand with additional functionality. The lens guide is best used as a complement to Dialux. The tool is part of Fagerhult Configure and can be used by logged-in or non-logged-in users.Fagerhult launches Control Track Versa – and adds new, sustainable light to office venues
With the launch of the modular and suspended lighting system Control Track Versa, Fagerhult opens up new lighting possibilities in offices and workspaces — for both property owners and their tenants. The new dual track combines indirect and direct, and the VIL luminaire enables 300 lux at the ceiling with just uplight. As each luminaire has its own driver, unlike a 48V system, there is no need for new calculations regarding capacity and planning when rearranging or moving luminaires. “Property owners can easily create their own lighting infrastructure and offer tenants a whole new level of freedom of choice and flexibility. The rail system has been developed with a full focus on the offices and flexible workplaces of the future in mind. We have strived for versatility and forward thinking – and new, circular opportunities for the flexible offices and workplaces of the future,” says Peter Robertsson, Product Manager, Fagerhult. Each luminaire can be easily combined and arranged along the track, and the lighting design can be updated when tenants move in – or want to change the interior or overall aesthetics of the office. “The ease of moving the luminaires along the track means that all products can be used throughout their life cycle. This flexibility also brings a new creative height to architects and lighting designers,” says Peter Robertsson. No matter the ceiling’s height or characteristics, Control Track Versa enables coherent architectural aesthetics and highest lighting quality. With fewer points of installation, the system is easy to install. “Control Track is a long-term investment for any sustainable and forward-looking project. Based on a 230V system, you can add control systems such as Organic Response to lower energy consumption and add extra lighting comfort,” says Peter Robertsson. VIL is a luminaire developed specifically for the dual Control Track. It enables 300 lux and an even and seamless uplight, good lighting comfort and a variety of lumen output options and light temperatures. To add another level of flexibility and simplicity to Control Track Versa, Fagerhult have extended the range with products as Pleiad G4 128 Track, Zkye 55 G2 Zoom Spotlight, Notor 65 Track, and Notor 36 Track with integrated Organic Response sensor.
