St Christopher’s Hospice exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality. The hospice also delivers community programmes that offer practical, emotions and spiritual support to over 7,500 people in the local area. The three-storey community building incorporates several flexible learning spaces, including a lecture theatre, library, digital support area and meeting rooms.

Responding to the brief, Fagerhult produced a flexible, modern lighting scheme which suits the ever-changing operational requirements of the space. Fagerhult introduced neutral colour temperatures, high quality LED light sources with a high colour rendering index and flexible, dimming lighting control systems to provide the client optimum flexibility and control over the multi-purpose spaces.

Using a mixture of linear and spot lighting, Fagerhult created a lighting scheme, which complements the design of the building while replicating the qualities of natural light to ensure both professionals and the community can use the building day and night.

“When choosing lighting for St Christopher’s CARE we wanted it to be as flexible as the spaces were themselves whilst also giving a good quality of light making the spaces a pleasure to be in.

On the whole the lighting throughout the building is modern and discreet, allowing the architecture of the building to shine. We’re really pleased with the Fagerhult light choices selected which meet our brief of flexibility making the Centre a truly multipurpose building which suits its ever-changing use.”
