Janssen Fashion & Sport near Eindhoven was founded as a family company at the end of the 70’s by Ton Janssen. They sell sport, outdoor and casual clothing, but also custom-made suits.
Although Janssen is a shop known in the wide area, they decided to renew the interior.
If you don’t do this regularly, you’re behind, especially in the fashion business, Janssen stated.
The assignment of designing the interior was given to Vorm Martini, an international known specialist in retail interior design and concept development. Fagerhult made the lighting solution together with Jan Ruijs Ideas.
The lighting concept requirements were:
A unique, distinguishing and energy saving lighting solution. And something that is still trendy in 8 years.
The challenge was to design a surprising interior and total lighting concept in which the three floors with three different fashion styles have their own character and are attractive for both young and old.
Strong, stylish and playful image
The glass void is an eye-catcher and invites the visitor to enter. The three floors vary in design, colours and lighting. The consequent use of black and white, some fresh colours and wall paintings give the shop a strong, stylish and playful image.
We came up with a lighting design with various luminaires which fits together by design and colour. To save energy, a fluorescent light was chosen as a base and metal halide for the accents in different beam angles to create various effects.
On the first “sport” floor the constructional ceiling is painted black for a spacious and sturdy effect. We suggested the black fixture Notor for the general lighting and for the accents Catwalk on track.
We created a nice atmosphere with black pendant Terso for decorative lighting. On the ground floor we use a combination of single and double Catwalk Inside in a white glossy finish. Terso in same stylish design and finish decorate the café lounge.
Mr. Janssen was and is very satisfied:
I’m proud of my shop and didn’t see a shop like this before. Everybody who is coming into the shop talks about it.
Business is running so much better now than before, which results in a planned extension with 1800 sqm. Ofcourse in the same interior and lighting concept which already saved a lot of energy.
