New visual atmosphere

The new lighting concept is developed together with Thomas Eriksson Architects (TEA). Thomas Eriksson Arkitekter and Stockholm Design Lab, got the assignment to reposition Cubus in Norway and on other markets.

"The challenge was to sharpen the brand and to move Cubus position from purchases governed by need to zestful purchase experiences. It should be easy to shop, easy to carry, easy to love and easy to buy. The new Cubus should be inspiring and fun with high fashion rate. It should also encourage return visits", says the responsible architect, Thomas Eriksson.

Innovating solutions for flagship store

Parallel to Cubus new concept launch, the 1350 m2 big flagship store at Karl Johan in Oslo was initiated. An exciting store concept was created with focus on the dynamics between colours, shapes and the way the products are exposed. This innovating light solution created a considerably fresh feel and a totally new visual experience.

A linear idiom created by the ramp mounted luminaire, Notor Opal in a black anodized design, decorates the ceiling. The rail mounted luminarie Strato, also in black, stands for the accent lighting.

The dark store concept set high demands on visual comfort; that is why carefully prepared lighting is essential in the complete concept.  I felt that a linear idiom in the otherwise dark and anonymous ceiling would contribute to an exciting expression, says David Holmqvist, Key Account Manager at Fagerhult retail.

A concept in the concept

The development of the cosmetics department, which can be seen as a concept in the concept, challenged the lighting solution with a ceiling height at only 2,3 meter. The lumiarie Pozzo was therefore placed irregularly in the ceiling - now an interesting and dynamic feeling was created. An energy effective metal halide, Pleiad Power G2 Mtm 20W, with narrow beamwas used for the accent lighting.
