LightShift is a dynamic concept that mixes the light’s colour temperature and intensity over the course of the day aliened to our experience with natural light. Developed within the framework of Fagerhults Light and Health research programme, the luminaire is a unique collaboration between louvre and micro-prism technology, both working in unison to enhance the visual experience and user comfort.
Instinctively, as humans, we associate the availability of light with how we feel. The question is how does this happen? LightShift is based on an on-going research project that Fagerhult is conducting together with Lund University: ‘The significance of ambient luminance and colour temperature for alertness, well-being and performance.
The study showed that the level of ambient light is the key element that affects our alertness and our well-being. The colour temperature has a more individual significance and affects us emotionally; in which way can vary from person to person and can be influenced by the time of day and exposure to daylight. We have converted this knowledge into Lightshift; a dynamic concept where the intensity of the ambient levels and the colour temperature of the light can be controlled to mirror that experienced with natural daylight, or controlled by the individual for a personal lighting environment.
