When APM Terminals decided to build a new automated terminal in Rotterdam, Fagerhult was chosen as the complete lighting supplier for the associated office building. The interior has a high tech design matching the latest technology of the terminal and the lighting solutions are controlled with daylight dimming.
APM Terminals designs, builds and operates over 160 port and inland services operations in 58 countries around the globe. The new APM Terminals Maasvlakte II 80-meter high cranes are the world’s first remote-controlled terminal quay cranes and will remotely load and unload cargo ships. It will be a state-of-the-art automated facility with zero CO² impact. The automated container terminal was officially opened by His Majesty King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.
To match the latest technology used in the terminal, architect Nelleke de Vries has given the interior of the facilities a high-tech character. APM also needed the offices to be built according to HSSE standards (Health, Safety, Security & Environment). To comply with these standards Fagerhult supplied energy efficient lighting solutions for the offices and other buildings, with daylight control and various DALI-controlled areas. The office is certified by BREEAM in the classification “very good”.
In the office area, Recesso was chosen. The recessed luminaires were completed with sensor controls allowing the light to adjust to daylight levels. In the technical rooms, the terminal is controlled remotely in the light from Kaptur 3000. Conference rooms are fitted with Pleiad Comfort with DALI.
